In Uno, there is a special card that has a W and a +4 sign on it, known as the Wild Draw 4 card. This card can be played on any card, regardless of its color or number, and worth 50 points. When you play it, you get to call the next color played and the next player has to pick 4 cards from the draw pile and forfeit their turn. However, you can only play this card when you don’t have a card in your hand that matches the color of the card previously played.
UNO Draw 4 Card Rules
When a Wild Draw 4 card is played in UNO, the player who played it can name any color to continue the game, the next player draws four cards from the draw pile and misses their turn. The player who drew four cards cannot play any card, and the game passes to the next player. A Wild Draw 4 card can only be played when the player has no other playable card to play. For instance, if a player plays a Wild Draw 4 card on a Green 5 but has either a Green card or a 5 card, then the challenge will be won.
If the Wild Draw 4 card is turned up at the beginning of the play, the player should return it to the deck and pick another card. It’s important to note that a player can only play a Draw 4 card if they don’t have any card in their hand that matches the color of the discard pile. Wild cards are considered a match too and if a player suspects that the card has been played illegally, they can challenge it.
